Birthday Fundraiser that Empowers Futures

Carla raised R5000 to celebrate life and support ECD Child Scholarships!

Meet Carla Martin, a vibrant force behind Learning at Reach. As our dedicated operations manager, Carla infuses every endeavor with passion and purpose. But on her birthday, 25 May 2023, Carla didn’t just celebrate another year; she shone a light on the potential to change the world by extending a lifeline to a vulnerable, young soul.

By leveraging her birthday as a platform for impact, Carla embarked on a mission to sponsor an ECD Child Scholarship to give access to early learning, a caring adult and a daily nutritious meal. Through the sale of 100 copies of our enchanting children’s book, “The Zebra Crossing”, Carla raised R5000.00 towards an ECD Child Scholarship, and collected 50 books which she joyfully gift-wrapped and distributed at one of our preschool partners.

In a remarkable double gesture, 50 young hearts received a cherished book, igniting a passion for reading, while one precious individual gained access to quality early education, paving their way toward lifelong learning and success.

Now, Carla’s story serves as an inspiration—a testament to the profound impact that one individual can make. But Carla’s journey is not one to be admired from afar; it’s a call to action—a beacon of hope inviting others to join the movement.

Here’s where you come in. You have the power to be a change champion, just like Carla. Embrace the spirit of giving, advocate for the cause, and run our pre-packaged book campaign on your social media for your birthday. You too can contribute to our ECD Child Scholarship fund, unlocking the potential of a young child in need.

Together, let’s empower futures, one scholarship at a time. Start your fundraising journey today and be a part of something truly extraordinary.

Milestone Birthdays with impact

Jacky’s 60th celebration sponsored a child’s annual ECD scholarship

Jacky Price celebrated her 60th birthday in March 2022 in a special way. Instead of receiving gifts, she asked everyone in her life to donate to Learning in Reach. This organisation is close to her heart, so she wanted her birthday to be a chance to give back. Her gesture shows her deep commitment and love for the cause. Let Jacky’s story inspire you to consider giving back on your birthday too.

She wrote:

“If you are thinking of contributing towards a gift for my birthday, please give me the gift of a donation to Learning in Reach as well as your attention to share this with your networks, as the work in the community through Learning in Reach moves into an exciting phase of building a physical presence in the community that it empowers and serves.”

And shared our donation link: www.learninginreach.org.za/donate

Being the co-founder of Learning in Reach in 2016, this was a real heart project for Jacky and as her expression of her love for the organisation, she had to celebrate her birthday in a way that it would give back to the organisation.

Let Jacky’s story inspire you to make a difference on your next birthday. Instead of just celebrating, consider using your special day as an opportunity to give back. Whether it’s donating or encouraging others to join you in making a positive impact, your birthday can be more than just a party – it can be a chance to create lasting change.

School partnerships with reach

Mulberry Tree Book Sale & Play, each 1 reach 1

Located in Bergvliet, Mulberry Tree Montessori offers a comprehensive Montessori programme designed to nurture the emotional, intellectual, physical, and social development of children aged 16 months to 6 years old. Their dedication lies in creating an engaging, enjoyable, and enriching learning environment for every child in their care.

Mulberry Tree Montessori holds a special place in our hearts, as they have been steadfast supporters of our projects for several years, offering mentorship to ECD teachers. Last year, they went above and beyond by hosting our interactive play of our  children’s storybook, “There’s a Lion in my Tummy” at their school.

Their community of parents eagerly participated, with each family purchasing a copy of the book for their children and donating a copy for Learning in Reach beneficiaries. All proceeds from this event were generously directed towards our ECD Child Scholarships, ensuring that children from low-income households have access to quality education and resources.

Are you a school interested in making a positive change? Here’s how you can do it. Follow the lead of Mulberry Tree Montessori and be a spark for transformation. Book an interactive storytime of one of our acclaimed children’s storybooks and inspire your students to become selfless givers. Encourage each child to purchase a copy of the book, knowing that every contribution opens doors to quality Early Childhood Development (ECD) for children from low-income households.
